എറണാകുളം ജില്ലയിലെ വിവിധ റോഡുകളിലായി സ്ഥാപിച്ചിട്ടുള്ള 64 ക്യാമറകളിൽ മാത്രം കഴിഞ്ഞ ആറ് മാസത്തിനിടെ അറുപതോളം വിഐപി വാഹനങ്ങൾ നിയമലംഘനം നടത്തിയതായി കണ്ടെത്തി. മുൻ വർഷങ്ങളിലെ കണക്കുകൾ കൂടി ചേർത്താൽ ഇത് 180-ഓളം വരുമെന്ന് അധികൃതർ വ്യക്തമാക്കുന്നു.
വാഹനമോടിക്കുമ്പോഴുള്ള മൊബൈൽ ഫോൺ ഉപയോഗം, സീറ്റ് ബെൽറ്റ് ധരിക്കാതിരിക്കുക, അമിതവേഗം എന്നിവയാണ് വിഐപി വാഹനങ്ങൾ നടത്തുന്ന പ്രധാന നിയമലംഘനങ്ങൾ. പല തവണ നോട്ടീസ് അയച്ചിട്ടും പിഴ അടയ്ക്കാത്തതിനെ തുടർന്ന് ജില്ലയിലെ ചില പ്രമുഖ രാഷ്ട്രീയ നേതാക്കളുടെ വാഹനങ്ങൾ മോട്ടോർ വാഹന വകുപ്പ് ബ്ലാക്ക് ലിസ്റ്റിൽ ഉൾപ്പെടുത്തിയിട്ടുണ്ട്.
